Three people are dead, another is injured, and the suspect is in custody following a shooting in Custer County on Monday.
45-year-old Hanme Clark was taken into custody yesterday afternoon by New Mexico State Police. In a press conference yesterday, Custer County Sheriff Rich Smith says that Clark was found in the white Ram pickup near Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Sheriff Smith said Clark was arrested peacefully, and another woman was in the car with him. Smith said it is unclear if she was involved, but authorities will be questioning her.
Clark’s father had been in contact with law enforcement during the search.
The Custer County Coroner has identified the deceased as 63-year-old Rob Geers, 73-year-old Beth Wade, and 58-year-old James Daulton. Patty Daulton was the individual airlifted to a Colorado Springs hospital and is currently being treated for her injuries.
The Sheriff said that the Geers and Daulton’s shared a property line with Clark.
According to Sheriff Smith, this incident started as a property dispute over an easement, which led to gunshots being fired. A surveyor was on the property with them at the time of the shooting. He was able to run safely from the scene.
Monday evening, the Salida Police Department was notified that Clark’s truck was spotted at Walmart. Surveillance video from the store shows a woman entering the store, buying items, then returning to Clark’s vehicle. The truck is then seen leaving the parking lot and traveling southbound on County Road 111 in the Methodist Mountain area.
Clark is facing three counts of first-degree murder, attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, and criminal attempt.
